FOX didn’t only just announce The Orville, (as reported below), they have now confirmed The Gifted as part of their new autumn lineup. The trailer is here:

Fox says: “The Gifted is a family adventure series, from 20th Century Fox Television in association with Marvel Television. It tells the story of a suburban couple whose ordinary lives are rocked by the sudden discovery that their children possess mutant powers. Forced to go on the run from a hostile government, the family joins up with an underground network of mutants and must fight to survive.”  Add in the fact that one of the children’s parents captures X-Men for a living and you can see how this will create an interesting dynamic.

This might be yet another Marvel TV show, but whether it is set in the MCU is yet to be determined. I wouldn’t expect any of the major league X-Men to make an appearance either. In addition, when compared to the offerings from Netflix, and the now popular Agents of Shield (ABC), it may have a lot to live up to. However, with people like Bryan Singer (X-Men Franchise), Matt Nix (Burn Notice) and Lauren Schuler Donner  (Deadpool), involved it should at least be competent.

It will be helped quite a lot by the cast too, with a pair of my favourite actors Amy Acker and Stephen Moyer in lead roles. Look out for it this autumn and give us your ideas about just where you think this series will go with it’s story line. “Mutant X” anyone?
